Steve Wagner
President & Brewmaster
APPEARANCE:
Hazy, amber gold. |
AROMA:
Very fruity with some malt and hops. Sherry notes – oxidation? |
FLAVOR:
Sweet, candied fruit, hop bitterness is moderate with some staling and alcohol. |
PALATE:
Full-bodied, lacking a little carbonation with lingering sweetness. |
OVERALL:
Drink it now! |

Lee Chase
Head Brewer
APPEARANCE:
Nice and clean with some slight haze noticeable. Mild nucleation (bubble formation). |
AROMA:
Smells like it has had some age…sweetness in the aroma. Caramel, low hops, clean, with some yeast complexity and some fruit. |
FLAVOR:
Big caramel with soft texture, mild toasty malt tones. Alcoholic with a bit of bitterness to balance. |
PALATE:
Nice rounded texture. |
OVERALL:
Pleasant – couldn’t drink too much but enjoyable. |

Greg Koch
Chairman & CEO
APPEARANCE:
Deep golden and rich looking. A little hazy. |
AROMA:
Showing some oxidation and not as vibrant as it once was. |
FLAVOR: Also some oxidation, but still quite nice. Orange citrus, hoppy bitterness, and alcohol. |
PALATE:
Very good carbonation but the oxidation gets in the way of full enjoyment. |
OVERALL:
If you have any I would suggest opening one up and determining for yourself that maybe you should open and share the rest of what you have…I think I will. |

Chris Cochran
Marketing & Promotions
APPEARANCE:
Brilliant gold, a tad hazy, with minimal head. |
AROMA:
Sweet, straw-like; meadowy with mild citrus notes. |
FLAVOR:
Sweet and a little buttery, oxidized? |
PALATE:
Lingering bitterness is barely there but the sweetness carries across. |
OVERALL:
The 7.7% abv seems subtle at this point and it is showing it’s age…drink now in my opinion. |

John Egan
Packaging Supervisor
APPEARANCE:
Looks great: nice CO2 and bright. |
AROMA:
Caramel, sweet candy, burnt sugar, and some vague fruitiness. |
FLAVOR:
Some age, but very tasty. Reminds me of Old Guardian only a bit on the lighter side as far as alcohol and body go, but definitely not flavor! |
PALATE:
Nice CO2 bite, and warming alcohol. |
OVERALL: Nice brew, I like it. For a beer with so much hops, it’s very good for how old it is. |

Bill Sherwood
Brewing Facilities Manager
APPEARANCE:
Copper-honey color with a slight haze. |
AROMA:
Cardboard, straw, apricots, and honey. |
FLAVOR:
Dried fruit, whole wheat toast, with a bitter finish. |
PALATE:
Coarse, bitter, and rough on the tongue. |
OVERALL:
Not bad. Really stale but some interesting fruity characters and the finish is a little coarse and rough. |
