Steve Wagner

President & Brewmaster

APPEARANCE:
Bright with a slight haze...
AROMA:
Hops, malt, and a hint of oxidation.
FLAVOR:
Hop bitterness is still prominent, nice malt balance, good hop flavor.
PALATE:
Nice carbonation with a full yet silky mouthfeel.
OVERALL:
Still good after all these (two) years.

Lee Chase

Head Brewer

APPEARANCE:
Light haze, but fairly bright.
AROMA:
Has that “once a former champion” character (meaning it is showing some expected age – caramel, maltiness, ripe fruit, citrus…).
FLAVOR:
Nice, fresher than the aroma let on. Actually some bitterness lingers around after it is gone, along with some malt flavors (toasty, sweet, fruity).
PALATE:
Soft.
OVERALL:
Wow… I’ll have to drink some of mine soon! But it is still really enjoyable.

Greg Koch

Chairman & CEO

APPEARANCE:
Orange with a little haze.
AROMA:
Light mustiness starting to work its way in to show that it has got a couple years on it.
FLAVOR:
Same as above. Maybe just a hint of oxidation, but frankly it is pretty tasty all the same. Hope is diminished, but that is to be expected.
PALATE:
OVERALL:
I think I’ll pull one of these babies from my personal cellar in the next weekend or two. And maybe the weekend after that...

Chris Cochran

Marketing & Promotions
APPEARANCE:
A deep golden-ish orange, bright, decent CO2 --- poured with a good head.
AROMA:
Malt flavors, hints of yeast-like character, not a lot of hop presence.
FLAVOR:
Fruity, a little bit of alcohol, and not much bitterness.
PALATE:
Smooth, medium body, flavors linger nicely
OVERALL:
Enjoyable, nice and certainly drinkable, but showing a little age at this point in time. I think I will start finishing off my stash soon.

Arlan Arnsten

Vice President of Sales
APPEARANCE:
Orange, light amber, and clear (bright), low white head, with festive carbonation .
AROMA:
Malty and the light smell of a field in spring; little to no hop aroma.
FLAVOR:
As it warms the flavor of malt comes in strong. Hops show up in the back, but not very strong.
PALATE:
Medium mouthfeel with light effervescence.
OVERALL:
Aroma of springtime in Escondido, but damn I’m thirsty now!
