In a stunning performance, and for the second time in its illustrious history, Boston’s Bistro & Pub has snagged the title of “Most Arrogant Bar in America.” During the Most Arrogant Bar competition this past November, they served more Arrogant Bastard Ale, OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale than any other establishment on the planet.  And they lived to tell the tale.

North County Times Writes About Stone

It's very cool that our local newspaper, the North County Times, is running a story today about Beer Advocate Magazine's pronouncement that Stone ranked at the #1 spot on their list “According to the numbers, the most popular and highest-rated brewers — ever. I wrote a blog post about it a couple weeks ago. Nice that the North County Times decided to cover it as well.

Big Fat Cans and Helping Hands

Each year we put out the word to "Drag your big fat cans over to Stone!" for our annual collection for the North County Food Bank. This time we had the fun idea to give a little incentive for your good deeds: If you manage to fill the food collection bucket to the top, we pull out a rare keg from our archive for growler fills. We put out the word right before Thanksgiving, and the response has been phenomenal. In particular, today has been astonishing.

Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale

“Bittersweet” is a good way to describe the feedback we’ve received from our fans over the last year and a half since the release of 2007’s Stone 11th Anniversary Ale. Bittersweet. Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. The term is quite descriptive of the beer itself, of course, as it aptly describes the flavors of the esteemed big hopped, high gravity IPA with roasted malts. But the word “bittersweet” applies in other ways as well.

In the current edition, BeerAdvocate magazine announced their annual “Highest Rated” list...This time, they ranked the breweries “According to the numbers, the most popular and highest-rated brewers --- ever." Over the last few days, I’ve been showing people my copy of the magazine, reading the same quote above from the copy, and then handing them the magazine while saying “I can’t quite make out the words on the list itself…can you tell me what it says?” Heh. I think it might be a while before that gets old. To me.
