Steve Wagner

President & Brewmaster

APPEARANCE:
Amber (almost like our Stone Pale Ale) and clear with not much head.
AROMA:
Big, resiny hop aroma dominates.
FLAVOR:
Prominent hop flavor and bitterness with lingering, slightly syrupy malt sweetness.
PALATE:
Full bodied with heavy coating mouthfeel. Carbonation is good.
OVERALL:
Definitely needs time for flavors to meld...very young!

Lee Chase

Head Brewer

APPEARANCE:
Copper/amber...almost like the Stone Pale Ale in color. Slightly hazy.
AROMA:
Alcohol. Hops are present in an herbal way. There is a little yeast aroma.
FLAVOR:
Winey but not real acidic. Nice mild malt flavors and the hop aroma keeps coming, along with some dried fruit tastes. Sweet and nutty as it warms --- really tasty.
PALATE:
Dry but pleasant. Drinkable now: tasty and fresh at the sacrifice of complexity and depth.
OVERALL:
Really tasty and drinkable now, but anxious to see how it tastes in 6 months.

Greg Koch

Chairman & CEO

APPEARANCE:
Bright and clear. The color of a great single malt, but the lower alcohol of the OG throws the light in different ways than a scotch.
AROMA:
Light and citrusy. Almost like a barley wine cured orange peel.
FLAVOR:
Pow! Hoppy as all get out. Young and brash. And to my palate quite delicious! Noticeable alcohol...quite clean.
PALATE:
Almost light on the palate (in a barley wine sorta way) that might not suggest the alcohol level.
OVERALL:
I want this now. I probably won’t age my personal stash that much as I like it just as it is.

Chris Cochran

Marketing & Promotions
APPEARANCE:
Golden/amber with orange hints. Good CO2, but the head seemed to disappear quickly.
AROMA:
Hops – young, green, resiny hops! Alcohol is noticeable and the smell of a sweet cereal-like character .
FLAVOR:
Bitterness, hops, and alcohol. Sweet, nutty, and doughy with a great complex lingering character.
PALATE:
Thankfully the CO2 is there to ease the thick assault of hops and alcohol that coat the tongue of this full body beer.
OVERALL:
Too young, but certainly drinkable now. Something to look forward to down the road in 6-12 months.

Arlan Arnsten

Vice President of Sales

APPEARANCE:
Darker than the ’04 but still medium-amber, effervescent and crystal clear. A perfect tan head that looks very inviting.
AROMA:
Big hop aroma --- resiny and fresh.
FLAVOR:
Hops! A little malt, a little alcohol, but mostly hops. Caramel and toffee, more alcohol than I initially thought.
PALATE:
Big mouthfeel with a tickly-like effervescent quality.
OVERALL:
Needs time. Sit on this one for a while.

Michael Knoth

Carlsberg Brewery
APPEARANCE:
Dark, golden amber.
AROMA:
Fresh hop nose, hints of banana, apricot. Green. Sulfide.
FLAVOR:
Sweet, short bitterness…low on esters.
PALATE:
Dry?
OVERALL:
Pleasant.
