Steve Wagner
President & Brewmaster

APPEARANCE:
Light amber, slight haze, white/tan head good retention.
AROMA:
Big fruitiness, plus tropical fruit hop aromas- there ought to be a law! High alcohols, some candy notes.
FLAVOR:
Intense malt sweetness and good hop bitterness but some age will benefit this one.
PALATE:
Good carbonation, full body, coating mouthful long finish with lingering bitterness.
OVERALL:
Has the legs to run a marathon–check back next year!

Mitch Steele
Head Brewer

APPEARANCE:
Slight hazy, good foam, amber color.
AROMA:
Toasted grain, slight raisin, berries (very fruity) some peach/stone fruit notes.
FLAVOR:
Malty biscuity, slight alcohol heat, some earthly spicy hop flavors, some breadiness.
PALATE:
Full bodies, very bitter finish.
OVERALL:
A little further along in age than I was expecting. The alcohol is blending well with the results still plenty bitter.

Greg Koch
Chairman & CEO

APPEARANCE:
Orange, slight haze. Good head retention.
AROMA:
Big, sweet caramel malt nose. Hoppy, yes, but the malt dominates my nose.
FLAVOR:
Hops rush in. Big. Bitter, but not resiny. Not super sweet (for a barley wine) I think I prefer the earliest years–hops were more dominant and punchy. This isn't so much “less hoppy" as “different hoppy."
OVERALL:
We're sitting here talking about what years' versions we liked the best. Mine was 2000. Egan's was 2006. This one is already showing age. Not so much in the bad way, but the “edge" has definitely come off.

Chris Cochran
Marketing & Promotions
APPEARANCE:
Deep golden color–a bit hazy, still bright but a slight haze faded after the pour. Foam kinda faded quickly.
AROMA:
Hops, sweet bread, alcohol, dried fruit–more pronounced as it warms up.
FLAVOR:
Sweet malt charachters with a nice mix of hop bitterness. Taste the “warming effects" of the abv, the “fruit" notes seem to come out as it warms.
PALATE:
Big body, viscous, warm lingering tastes and flavors that make you want more.
OVERALL:
Such a BIG beer, will age very well, and one to sit down and enjoy!

John Egan
Brewer
APPEARANCE:
Copper color very slight, slight haze. Head dissipates rather quickly.
AROMA:
Touch of alcohol, slight graininess.
FLAVOR:
Caramel, thick bread-like quality with some resinous hops sneaking through.
PALATE:
alcohol, warming, bitter.
OVERALL:
Kind of trough, could be aging better, but otherwise it's tasting fairly well.
