STONE BREWING WORLD BISTRO & GARDENS:
Stone Brewing Co. has never shied away from pushing the flavor envelope with its beers, and neither have our friends at the Lagunitas Brewing Company in Petaluma, CA. The Stone World Bistro & Gardens is therefore proud to present an evening of some of Northern California's biggest, boldest brews that definitely live up to their names—like Hairy Eyeball, Lucky 13 Mondo Large Red Ale, Lagunitas IPA, and Lumpy Gravy, just to name a few. To sweeten the deal further and give you something more than fond memories to take home with you, we'll even throw in a Lagunitas Brewing Company pint glass with your purchase! Brace yourselves!

Skipping Stone Across the Pond

This March, Great Britain's JD Wetherspoons pub group is holding the world's largest real ale festival and decided it just wouldn't be complete without a style known to hop heads as the "West Coast IPA." So who did they turn to to brew this hoppy masterpiece?  You guessed it—our very own Brewmaster, Steve Wagner and Head Brewer, Mitch Steele! Stringent international importing regulations and paperwork, however, made getting the beer across the Pond rather tricky.  Luckily, some very wise minds decided, "if we can't import the beer, why not import the brewers?" So Steve and Mitch got the trip of a lifetime last month and brewed a special batch of Stone California Double IPA at the oldest operating brewery in the UK, Shepherd Neame in Kent! Steve describes:

"We arrived in London on Feb 13 after 11+ hours in the air and caught the train to Paddington Station.  From there, we went by cab to Victoria Station and caught the train for Faversham, about an hour southeast of London in Kent, England's hop growing region and home of the Shepherd Neame brewery. Sheperd Neame is the oldest continuously operating brewery in England, going strong for over 300 years, and  it was very cool mashing in to hundred year old teak mash tuns—basically the same way they have been doing it for centuries.

The beer is a double IPA (by English standards!) at over 7% abv and about 70 IBUs. We used our own Stone house yeast, British Maris Otter Pale malt and British crystal malt, British Admiral hops for bittering, Washington State Centennials for whirlpool hopping and a 50/50 blend of Washington State Centennial and Simcoe hops for dry hopping before packaging. It is loosely based on Stone IPA, but the hybrid raw materials and the different brewing and packaging process should make it a very unique Stone beer. The brewers at Shepherd Neame report that it tastes great even though they were a little flabbergasted by the amount of hops we used!"

Stone California Double IPA goes on tap at JD Wetherspoon's Pubs on March 27th through the April 14th as part of their International Real Ale Festival. In a happy twist of fate, our good friend Toshi Ishii (who got his start training with us to brew great beer in Japan) is having his Tokyo Black ale on tap too! Check out the article on the JD Wetherspoon's website.

Instead, simply join us between 5-10pm and 10% of your tab will help fight this disease which currently afflicts two Stone Team Members, Ken Wright and Kathryn Bouscaren. WASHINGTON D.C.
Savor
FRIDAY & SATURDAY, MAY 16th & 17th
It's about time those folks in Washington put more focus on the economic benefits, artisanship and national pride that our craft breweries bring to the table, and what better way to spur them to action than to, well, bring craft beer to their table! Four dozen independent American craft brewers from across the country (including yours truly) have been selected to showcase the pleasures of fine food enjoyed with great beer in Washington D.C. May 16-17. SAVOR: An American Craft Beer & Food Experience will highlight the culinary delights of beer as part of the Brewers Association's annual American Craft Beer Week celebrations. Keeping with the spirit of a democratic republic, citizens are cordially invited to participate, and to ensure that attendees can interact directly with the craft brewers, each session will be limited to no more than 700 consumers. Tickets are $85 each and can be purchased..

This list isn't even mentioning all the great growler fills, casks we pull out on a weekly basis, Lambic Sundays and more that we have going on all the time. Be sure to check the Stone Calendar of Events to stay up to date!
