Barley Wine Hitting Shelves Now!
Don't be caught off your guardian —the 2008 Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine will launch its assault upon store shelves throughout the land on Monday, January 21st! With massive malts and huge hop profiles this luscious Special Release beer won't linger long, so get it while you can! And be sure to stock up, as this beauty takes to cellaring like a duck to water. Don't delay, lest you be consigned to the ranks of the unhappy and uninformed "gee-whaddya-mean-there's-none-left" lollygaggers who darken our doors every year months after the fact.

Our very own Brandon Uhl will be taking a break from the VERY busy production line to share his knowledge and passion about barley wine's origins and production, varieties, and cellaring options in our open forum. The multi-course dinner will feature original selections prepared by our own Chef Jeff D. Massey, expertly paired with an array of Port Brewing's excellent beers. Be sure to mark your calendar and make your reservations, as Port Brewing is one of San Diego's finest breweries and a crowd of dedicated enthusiasts is expected. When it comes to hops, indulgence and passion we at Stone are no shrinking violets. In medieval times, however, many a concerned citizen expressed grave reservations about the use of hops in beer. One brewer of note, Saint Hildegard of Bingen, worried that hopped beer would inflame the passions, driving imbibers to various acts of carnal indulgence and debauchery. This Valentine's Day we invite you to prove her right! To further enhance the romance, Chef has cooked up an evening of fare that will stimulate your appetites and arouse the senses. Accompanied by our passionately brewed, admittedly indulgent ales, this is a menu that will make your heart throb. And for those whose love extends to our creaturely friends, vegetarian options will be readily available.

In the upcoming third installment of our "FRESH!" dinner series, we will once again take fresh, wholesome food and drink to new culinary heights by presenting diners with the freshest meal they have ever had; a meal in which all items were picked, gathered, kegged, caught and/or killed THAT VERY DAY! Under the expert direction of Chef Jeff D. Massey, the "FRESH! III" dinner will serve up only the freshest organically and sustainably raised foods. This includes any dishes derived from fin or feather—and of course, for those who would rather not dine on something that was breathing just hours before, vegetarian options will be readily available.
And did we mention beer? All the beers to be paired with selected courses will have been either kegged or bottled earlier that day. Now, how's that for fresh? We thought so.
This dinner will be served "family style" communally at one big table, so be prepared to get social! At just $39 seats go fast, so be sure to get tickets soon at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens or online from Brown Paper Tickets. If you missed your chance, don't get "fresh" with us.

Even though modesty isn't one of our stronger suits, we realize that many midday diners have a modest budget in terms of minutes and moolah. Therefore, we have decided to judiciously dole out a modest bit of moderately priced meals during the modest lunch hours of 11am-1pm—delivered to your table at an admittedly immodest speed, of course, so that you may still make hay while the sun shines. |
