It's no secret that we love our hops here at Stone and we know that you do too. That's why we have our year 'round release of Stone Ruination IPA to satisfy those hop loving pangs we get. But there was one problem, before now you could only get it in 22oz "bomber" bottles. Sometimes there's nobody around that's worthy of sharing the "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop" with, and at 7.7% twenty-two ounces can be a bit of a commitment for one person. Now you have three ways to get Stone Ruination IPA: in the traditional 22oz bottle, in our hoppiest sixpack to date and now on draft full time as well! That's right, up until now Stone Ruination IPA has been rarely sighted on tap outside of Stone's walls and only by a lucky few that could find it. From here on out Stone Ruination IPA will be available to bars and restaurants year 'round! If you're lucky, that'll include one near you.


On Monday we released the 2007 Stone Imperial Russian Stout (aka "Stone IRS"). If you want a sweet, strong stout that rivals used motor oil in color - this is your beer. You can get a full list of stores and distributors getting a visit from the IRS here...

Lambics and sour beers all day long.
Unlike conventional ales and lagers, which are fermented by carefully cultivated strains of brewer’s yeasts, Lambic beer is instead produced by spontaneous fermentation:
it is exposed to the wild yeasts and bacteria that are said to be native to the Senne valley, around Brussels. It is this unusual process which gives the beer its distinctive flavor: dry, vinous, and cidery, with complex and refreshing sour notes throughout.

The money from the first two kegs of 2007 Stone Imperial Russian Stout sold in the Bistro will go to benefit the American Diabetes Association in memory of Dana Verne. Dana was a member of the Stone Family and recently lost his battle with the disease. His favorite Stone beer was the Imperial Russian Stout, and we thought this would be a fitting tribute to a very special person.

Our Lead Brewer John Egan guides this 90 minute class that includes tasters of several different stouts from around the world. Learn about the stout style, what makes it so dark and how to appreciate the subtle differences between Dry Stouts, Export Stouts, Milk Stouts, Oatmeal Stouts, Foreign Style Stouts and Imperial Stouts! Introduced in 1997, Arrogant Bastard Ale immediately developed a following among “those who know” (a.k.a. "the Worthy"). Arrogant Bastard Ale is an aggressive beer and not for the timid or weak. As such, it demands pairing with food that takes the same stance. So when our similarly (and appropriately) arrogant friends at Carlsbad Gourmet approached us to collaborate on a hot sauce recipe made with Arrogant Bastard, not only did we say yes - we said “Let’s make three!”

All these hot sauces are brewed, stewed and bottled on the edge of the Pacific Ocean - just a few short miles from our brewery. Only in such close proximity could we trust anyone to make these astounding sauces with our trio of black sheep ales. We keep a careful watch on them. And on you --- we are watching you now --- don’t let yourself down, and do NOT let us down. This is the Bastard Trinity. They shall deliver you from mediocrity,
whether you want it or not.
