Port Brewing and Stone go back, way back. Back ten years, back to our first pint of Stone tapped in a restaurant, even back to our ribbon cutting on July 26th, 1996! Fittingly, after Port Brewing was the first to put us on tap - we'll be having Port Brewing as the first brewery featured in our series of Brewmaster's Dinners at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens! The night will be guided by Brewmaster Tomme Arthur who masterfully brews his series of Lost Abbey beers at our old stomping grounds on Mata Way. What is the Lost Abbey? To quote their website...
"Rooted in the Monastic and artistic Belgian brewing traditions, The Lost Abbey brewery project is the brainchild of Vince and Gina Marsaglia, former head brewer of Pizza Port in Solana Beach Tomme Arthur and Jim Comstock of Comstock and Associates who formed the partnership responsible for the stewardship of these beers." |
The series includes Avant Garde, Lost and Found Abbey Ale, Red Barn Ale and Judgment Day. There will be five courses, with all four beers from the Lost Abbey series and, according to Tomme, "something [else] out of one of our barrels that we like and roll it out for the dinner." Tomme can be a bit modest, so let us translate - he'll be bringing one of his sought after barrel aged beers that’s bound to knock your socks off.
Food wise, the man known around Stone as "Chef" (aka Chef Carlton Greenawalt) will be teaming up with Port Brewing Co-Founder (and great cook!) Vince Marsaglia to come up with five great courses to match these excellent beers.
