Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

So, what the hell is it?

A: It's a fundraiser. Offbeat. Over-the-top, like Stone beers. You offer to dye your hair green and get people to pledge money to see it happen. You dye your hair and 100% of the money you collect will be donated to four great charities. Simple. You also get special recognition at the Stone Brewing 14th Anniversary Celebration.

Q:

Why Green?

A: It's impossible to miss a green-headed beer drinker. Your friends/family/co-workers are more likely to pledge if there's an entertaining pay-off. Like seeing you with green hair.

Q:

Can't I dye my hair some other color and still raise money for charity?

A:Sure, just not at our party. It's your right as an American to color your hair any way you want, but the Arrogant Bastard wants green. So green it is.

Q:

Very funny, but I can't dye my hair. I'm a highly respected businessperson who deals with very important clients every day at my extremely prestigious job. What would my clients think?

A: Good question. One thing you can do is point out to your clients that you are not merely a businessperson. You are also a philanthropist, donating your time, energy and scalp for a worthy cause. Get their pledges and you'll not only have their respect and understanding, you'll have their support too! Talk them into sponsoring you or making a donation in person at the Stone 14th Anniversary Celebration & Invitational Beer Festival.

Q:

My friend is bald but wants to participate...what can he do?

A: If you can dye any hair on your person the color green and get someone to make a pledge to see it, you're in. It's for charity and we don't want to "split hairs" on the smaller details.

Q:

How green is green?

A:Our CEO, Greg Koch, will be the ultimate referee; however, the key here is to not do a half-way job. Make us proud. For example, if your green hair approaches one of the crayon colors, then it will be just fine. You can also do other stuff to make it interesting. Do a racing stripe. Put polka dots in your beard. Be creative!

Q:

Where does the money go?

A: ALL (read: 100%) of the pledge money collected will be divided equally among four charities: Palomar Pomerado Health Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos and the Palomar Family YMCA. Stone will pick up the cost for the promotion. Participating salons are offering free dyeing services – see the Participating Salons page for details.

Q:

How do I change my hair back after this is all over?

A: Why would you go back? Well, if you must, we recommend you talk with your hairdresser or stylist about the different types of dyes and treatments available and the benefits of each. We're brewers. What do we know about hair? We do provide a list of participating salons can tell you what is involved and what your options are.

Q:

O.K. I'm convinced. What do I do next?

A: Just read the six easy steps on this page!

Q:

My Aunt Marge is afraid to do financial transactions online; who should she make the check payable to? And where do I drop off cash and check donations?

A: There are two ways for pledgers to pay by check. They can make checks payable to Stone Brewing Co., and the funds will be added to the general pool and divided among the four charities (they will NOT, however, be tax deductible.) If donors want tax deductions, they must make the check out to one of the four charities directly. Donations of cash and checks can be dropped off at the 14th Anniversary Celebration (inquire at the Information Booth). You can also mail them to us or drop them off at the Stone Company Store. Please write “Attention: Dye Hards” on the envelope either way.

Q:

Where can I download the pledge form and other documents?
